We start early in the morning, so we have enough time to discover and wander about this magnificent landmark of ancient times.
The monastery is located at an altitude of 1570 meters. Only about thirty monks currently reside at St. Catherine and that is why, the monastery already closes at noon.
After visiting the monastery, we will start our hike through Wadi Arabin, (“Trail of the 40 martyrs”) on which we will reach (after a one hour hike) the ancient orchard of
olive trees, which are up to 300 years old.
We are awaited by a local beguine tribe that treats us to an unforgettable lunch. After this you can indulge in the tranquillity of the dessert and relax in the
shade of the olive trees. We will return on the same trail, back to our car.
