Mt. Moses - 1 Day Trip

Tour description:

The drive leads us via Wadi Ghazalla to the monastery of St. Catharine, which we will reach within 90 minutes. The trailhead is located just behind these premises. Here, it is up to you to decide whether you choose the two and a half our lasting ascent by foot, or by camel. But remember, the 350 steps just before the peak have to be conquered regardless of your decision!

After an extended rest on the summit, where we usually have the view all to ourselves, we start with our descent towards “Wadi Arbain” and its olive trees. This trail is not very well known and therefore even more beautiful! We pass the trailhead of the St. Catharine trail, where we are greeted by Ramadan, who invites us or a cup of tea, an offer we never decline. After this short stop, we continue our hike back to the village of St. Cathatrine, which will take about an hour. The setting sun will accompany us on our way back to Dahab. If we feel like it, we can cool off at a lagoon nearby.

The monastery of St. Catharine is situated at an altitude of 1570 meters ...

... and this is here where we start our 2,5 hours ascent of Mt. Moses.

A long time ago, a monk undertook the effort of clamping 3600 steps ...

... in the rocks of Mt. Moses.

On our way to the summit, we will encounter various mind-blowing views of the surroundings.

The chapel, which was erected in the honour of St. Catharine, located at the summit of
Mt. Moses ...

... at an altitude of 2285 meters.

Look forward to an awesome view …

    ... of the Sinai peninsula!

The ascent can also be undertaken on „camelback“.

A last glimpse of this magnificent landscape.

    Night-tour:

Due to the popularity of the hike at night (early morning, there can be up to 500 people on the summit), in order to see the sun rise, ...

... we prefer hiking during the day.

The „sunrise-tour“ however can still be booked with us as well.
